Expert Presenter: Thomas D. Lyon, JD, PhD, is the Judge Edward J. and Ruey L. Guirado Chair in Law and Psychology at the University of Southern California. His research interests include child abuse and neglect, child witnesses, and domestic violence. He is the Past-President of the American Psychological Association’s Section on Child Maltreatment (Division 37) and a former member of the Board of Directors of the American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children. His work has been supported by the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, the United States Department of Justice, the National Center on Child Abuse and Neglect, the California Endowment, and the Haynes Foundation.

Expert Presenter: Jordan Sargent, MSW, is the Lead Forensic Interviewer at the USC Child Interviewing Lab. She has been conducting forensic interviews since 2018.  Her interviews are used as part of the California Forensic Interview Training (CFIT). She is co-lead of the USC Child Interviewing Lab Bi-Weekly Case Review with Dr. Tom Lyon, where they review forensic interviews and provide training on the most current child interviewing research. She has taught the Child Interviewing Practicum at the USC Gould School of Law. She has been invited to speak at the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Conference and the Chadwick Conference on Child and Family Maltreatment Conference on topics including: strategies for addressing numerosity, dating, and severity in forensic interviews, assessing suicide risk during forensic interviews, and utilizing Wh- questions to investigate children’s thoughts, feelings, and actions.
